Jean Van Delft, 92, of Bradenton died Saturday, July 25, 2009 following a short illness. Born in Connecticut and raised in New York, Mrs. Van Delft was a former New York City schoolteacher and the mother of four daughters, Mary Jane (Bob) Suffi-cool, Carolyn (Ron) Spitz, Dorothy (Mike) Ryan and Kathleen Harnett (Glen A.White). Five grand-children, Rev. Patricia Money, Bart Sufficool, Kenn Spitz, Thea Ryan and Alison White and three great-grandchildren Caleb and Kody Spitz and Susanna Money, also survive her. In addition, her two sisters, Peg O'Connor and Marie Lou McEvoy and numerous nieces and nephews survive her, as does her devoted and most cherished fiance, Piet Jeronimus, of Bra-denton. Mrs. Van Delft was married to Charles A. Harnett, Jr. and Arthur B. Van Delft both of whom preceded her in death. She is stepmother to Jane Pinkham, Vicki Murray and Katie Van Delft and grandmother to Andy Galvin, Kevin Galvin, Lieu Hazelwood and Alder Van Deft and great-grandmother to Nicholas, Amanda, Benjamin, Ra-chel and Neil Galvin and Kaitlin and Jacob Hazel-wood . At the time of her death, Mrs. Van Delft was working on the Second Chance Homes project for unmarried teen mothers. A former Guardian Ad Litem for Manatee County, she was also past president of the League of Women Voters. Mrs. Van Delft received her Bachelor's degree from the College of New Rochelle, N.Y. and her Masters degree from Queens College, N.Y. A memorial service will be held at the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 322 15th Street, West, Bradenton on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Manatee Unitar-ian Universalist Fellowship or Open Door Day Resource Center, 1404 14th Street West, Bradenton 34205.
