Hi. I'm Patti. I started this blog in 2006 with the original purpose of keeping far-flung friends and family updated about our life. With the ever-growing popularity of Facebook, most of my updates are now happening on that site. This blog has transitioned to more of a venue for my reflections on family, faith, and vocation.
I've been married to James (who occasionally posts here) since 2001. James is a software engineer for a Department of Defense contractor. We have two children. Susanna was born in 2007 and Greg was born in 2010. I am currently serving as the Associate Pastor of a mid-size United Methodist congregation in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I am exceedingly blessed.
I tell people that I "grew up" in Northern Virginia, because that's where I lived from the time I was 10 until I went to college at 19 (and my parents lived there until 2003). But I was born outside of Chicago, and have lived in: rural Wisconsin, Memphis, southern Florida, Hawaii, southwestern Virginia, and Kentucky. My goal is to live in the same residence for five years, which has not happened since I began college in 1995.
I have a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Divinity, and five units of Clinical Pastoral Education. I love what I do.
I'm a huge fan of figure skating, so much so that I stayed up to watch most of the 2010 Olympics figure skating competition, despite having a newborn. I have been known to use figure skating illustrations in my sermons. The only other time I watch sports are Kentucky football and Kentucky basketball. Oh, and the occasional Redskins game.
I also love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the Chronicles of Narnia, Twilight, and Anne of Green Gables. I love to read, but I don't have nearly enough time to do it now that I'm a mother.
