On Her Own...

Isaiah 40:31 "Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not be faint." (Or something along those lines; I'm doing it from memory.)

This morning, during her PT session, Susanna took first two, then six, then eight, and then twelve steps on her own! She is two years, two weeks, and four days old. She's been in physical therapy for 10 months, been walking with one hand held for almost two months, and we were beginning to think that she'd never walk on her own (well, not really, but you know what I mean). We've met with a neurologist, had bloodwork done, she had an MRI brain scan, but everything seemed "normal." We were told it was just "a matter of time." It's been a long road, and very discouraging at times. But today made it all worth it.

I also want to give a "shout out" to Debi Adamson (our rock star physical therapist), the nice folks at La Petite Academy (who worked wonderfully with Susanna and integrated her into the toddler class), Dr. Cherry at Chesapeake Pediatrics, Dr. Northam at CHKD Neurology, and the Motorola Krazr cell phone that served as powerful incentive this morning!
